We welcome proposals about empirical evidence on foreign language learning and teaching across varied geopolitical contexts, spanning the widest possible range of methodologies, epistemologies, and fields. We are keen on offering a rich program that explores phenomena at different nested levels – societies, schools and classrooms, communities and families, minds and brains.
The conference will also seek to attract and encourage young researchers with an empirical focus in their projects (doctoral & post-doctoral students). In the interest of fostering new ideas and talents, there will be a slot for poster presentations in which young researchers can discuss their work with mentors and experts.
To register for this conference, please submit an abstract (500 words, including references) for a conference paper by 9th December, 2022. The organizing committee will evaluate all submitted abstracts based on the following criteria:
There are two formats for contributions:
Presentations by participants will be grouped into «workshops» of similar topics and approaches. Posters will be exhibited in a designated lecture hall and discussed in detail in the poster session. It is possible for two researchers to submit a presentation or poster jointly.
NB: Researchers who had already submitted a paper for the (postponed) EBFL 2020 conferences are kindly requested to make a new, updated submission.
Submission period from 1st August until 9th December 2022. Please submit your paper using the conference management system on this website.
The conference languages are English and German. Presentations in English are preferred.
